Luminous rectangles sighted by a gendarme near Château-d'Oléron

Summary

On 9 December 1992, a gendarmerie officer and his wife were driving near Château-d'Oléron (Charente-Maritime) when they saw five to six illuminated rectangles lined up, with two very intense blue flashes at each end. The phenomenon lasted only seconds but was enough to make the officer brake. A second car behind them also slowed down, though that driver could not be traced afterwards. No conventional explanation was found.
