Summary

On 23 July 1993, a witness looking out of a window in Viry-Châtillon (Essonne) saw five luminous halos in a cloudy sky. Each appeared roughly 1.5 metres across, and they moved while keeping the same spacing. The witness's mother also confirmed the sighting. After a few minutes one halo sped away while the others continued moving. The phenomenon was silent and lasted about fifteen minutes. Investigators considered distant searchlights reflected off the cloud layer to be the most likely explanation.
