Summary

On 18 January 1993, two people in a car saw a green light streak past at high speed over La Trimouille (Vienne). The phenomenon lasted two to three seconds; its front showed a red hue and threw off red sparks. Investigators deemed an atmospheric entry the most likely explanation. Classified B by GEIPAN.
