Rotating night light at Chinon attributed to a laser

Summary

In the early hours of 10 July 1993 a Chinon resident noticed a shapeless light rotating clockwise, accompanied by a faint hum. He called a friend and his mother, both of whom also saw it. The gendarmerie found two more witnesses who declined to make statements. The phenomenon reappeared roughly every twenty minutes until 2:30 a.m. While never officially identified, investigators considered it likely to be a nightclub laser about ten kilometres away, its beam reflecting off the cloud cover that night.
