One night in September 1993, four people in a car near Villers-Bocage saw a luminous orange object approaching like an airplane. What followed was unusual: the object abruptly changed shape, becoming elongated like a cigar or diamond. During the two to three minutes the phenomenon lasted, no sound was heard. It appeared larger than a star and moved in complete silence.
GEIPAN classified the case as C, finding no conventional explanation. Although the testimony is straightforward, the mid-observation shape change and total absence of noise set it apart from more routine sightings.
