On the night of September 11–12, 1993, several residents of Bourgneuf-en-Retz saw a formation of luminous dots spinning in the sky, forming a vague shape. The phenomenon aroused local curiosity. However, the investigation concluded the lights originated from a nearby nightclub whose projections were reflecting off the sky. GEIPAN classified the case as B, confirming a terrestrial explanation — a classic example of artificial lighting being mistaken for unidentified objects.
