On December 24, 1993, a driver on a French motorway spotted two bright red round objects roughly one meter in diameter, hovering 4 to 6 meters above a canal. The objects separated — one sped away while the other continued more slowly. The witness tried to follow it at about 140 km/h but lost sight of it. No sound was heard.
