Summary

During a hunt at Saint-Cirgues (Haute-Loire) in October 1994, a witness watched for 25–30 minutes a bright cylindrical object with silvery metallic reflections gliding silently and displaying red and blue lights. His brother confirmed seeing something similar near his home — the same cylindrical, metallic shape moving slowly close to the ground.

After re-examining the case with updated tools and experience, GEIPAN concluded it was most likely a Mylar balloon, whose buoyancy varies with temperature. The most plausible scenario is that the balloon, released the day before, sank overnight and rose again as the morning sun warmed it.
