On 25 October 1984, a couple in Montpont-en-Bresse (Saône-et-Loire) observed a white ball that was initially stationary before oscillating regularly from side to side, shifting between pink and green. Although the description sounded striking, investigators determined it was an advertising laser projector used by a discotheque — a type of lighting that can easily be mistaken for an aerial object from a distance.
