Summary

On the night of 30 October 1994, a couple driving near Sélestat (Bas-Rhin) saw a luminous circle spinning on its axis with evenly spaced lights, hovering about 5–6 metres above their car. As they left the town, it stayed ahead of them and took the shape of an equilateral triangle roughly 10 metres across, at 10–15 metres altitude. The object matched their speed — around 80 km/h — for several kilometres. When they changed direction, it accelerated away, revealing a boomerang silhouette.

Another couple driving through the same area at the same time independently described the phenomenon in very similar terms. Investigators found no conventional explanation for the case.
