Bright Neon-Tube-Shaped Trail over Réunion Island

Summary

In March 1996, four witnesses on Réunion Island observed a very bright point accompanied by a white trail giving it a "neon tube" appearance. The phenomenon was completely silent and lasted 1 to 3 minutes. Investigators concluded it was most likely a meteorite or space debris entering the atmosphere. GEIPAN classified the case as B, ruling out an unknown origin despite the unusual appearance described by multiple observers.
