In September 1996, a motorist in the Charente-Maritime region first noticed a bright point in the sky that turned out to be Venus. Further along, they spotted an ovoid object with three square windows emitting an intense orange light. The case was initially classified as D, but a later review downgraded it to C due to insufficient data. Investigators considered the possibility of telecommunications antennas, though the witness's description did not match that hypothesis. The inability to conduct a nighttime reconstruction and the lack of precise data prevented any conclusion.
