In August 1997, three witnesses in Lyon observed a triangular object moving silently at low altitude, fitted with two powerful headlights. One beam pointed directly at them for several seconds, and one witness claimed to have seen two figures inside a transparent cabin. The case was initially classified as D, but a later GEIPAN review reclassified it as A, attributing it to a helicopter. Although the absence of noise and the inability to see rotors raised questions, other elements — green and red lights and the proximity of a regular helicopter traffic zone — support the conventional explanation.
