At around 11:00 p.m. on 27 August 1997, a witness in Dordogne saw six luminous spheres spinning in the sky. Shortly after, five vanished, leaving a large whitish orb — three times the apparent size of the setting sun — that remained visible for about thirty minutes. The witness's mother, alerted, only managed to see the white sphere. The investigation did not confirm the origin of the phenomenon, though advertising laser projectors reflected on clouds have been suggested as a possible cause.
