In October 1997, children found the remains of a weather balloon among brambles in Champ-du-Boult (Calvados). Recovered items included an aluminum sphere made of two interlocking halves, a parachute, and balloon fragments scattered across the area, suggesting a recent fall. GEIPAN classified the find as category A — a clear and verifiable observation. It was not an anomalous phenomenon but rather an example of how conventional objects can cause confusion.
