Luminous disc sighted in Saint-Vit, 1998

Summary

In January 1998, three people in the same car in Saint-Vit (Doubs) sighted a bright object 20–25 meters in diameter with black stripes and yellow and red lights. The case appeared in the press, but the witnesses could not be identified or interviewed. Days later, a fourth witness contacted GEIPAN to report a similar experience on January 21 — a luminous disc twice the apparent size of the Moon, seen while driving. The testimonies are interesting but incomplete and contradictory, preventing any rigorous assessment.
