Around 5 a.m. on September 21, 2000, a witness returning from work spotted a luminous, multicolored object in the sky over Bacoüel. Using a magnifying lens, they watched it for roughly two hours as it moved erratically without making any noise, eventually fading at dawn. The prolonged visibility and described behavior most likely correspond to a bright planet or star whose scintillation and apparent motion were amplified by atmospheric conditions and the optical instrument used.
