On June 6, 2001, at 4:40 p.m., the crew of an A300 en route to Toulouse spotted a fast, incandescent luminous phenomenon descending through the sky. The proximity of a military zone led investigators to consider it was a decoy flare launched by a fighter jet. The crew of another aircraft also witnessed the event, confirming it was visible simultaneously from multiple positions.
