Silent fireball seen from France and Bavaria

Summary

On 6 April 2002, independent witnesses across several French départements — and also in Bavaria, Germany — observed a fireball falling rapidly from the east without making any sound. GEIPAN investigators concluded it was an atmospheric phenomenon, most likely a meteorite entry. The absence of noise and the swift descent are typical features of such events.
