Blue-green flash reported by pilots in flight

Summary

On 11 June 2003, several pilots aboard different aircraft reported an intense blue-green light that appeared for a few seconds near their planes. Some crew members perceived it as very close, causing surprise on board. The brevity and visual characteristics led GEIPAN to conclude it was most likely an atmospheric re-entry — an object breaking up as it entered the atmosphere. The case was classified B.
