In May 2004, a witness and his son spent several hours watching green and yellow balls of light, larger than stars, that appeared to move anomalously in the sky over Côte-d'Or. The experience repeated on two consecutive nights. They used binoculars and recorded video, which may have amplified the perception of movement and colour. Originally classified as unexplained, a later GEIPAN review concluded the lights were most likely Venus, whose position alongside other stars formed a V-shaped figure drifting toward the horizon. Atmospheric effects and optical artefacts from the recording would account for the impression of strange objects. The case was reclassified accordingly.
