In December 2004, a witness in the Hautes-Alpes observed a stationary, silent luminous point shining with changing colours and rising slowly. Although the description seemed unusual, investigators concluded it was most likely a celestial body. GEIPAN classified the case as B, deeming the explanation plausible.
