In June 2006, a witness in Fontainebleau forest saw a luminous object cross the sky from west to east. It was described as a bright cream-white disc moving in a straight line at constant speed and making no sound. The observation lasted two to three minutes. Investigators concluded it was most likely a Thai lantern released during a solstice celebration: the oval shape, colour, and wind direction supported this hypothesis. GEIPAN classified the case as B, meaning the observation is probably explained.
