In December 2006, several witnesses in Le Havre observed seven brown hockey-puck-shaped objects moving slowly and silently at low altitude, maintaining a steady course for at least ten minutes. The sighting was recorded by gendarmes using a situation chart, though no angular measurements were taken that would have helped calculate size, distance, and speed more precisely.
Originally classified as D, GEIPAN reviewed the case with new tools and experience. The most likely hypothesis points to passive objects—such as balloons—carried by the wind: witness data are consistent with the recorded wind direction and speed. Although the shape and colour are not typical of balloons, a wide variety of models exist. The classification was updated to B.
