A motorist driving along the A410 near La Roche-sur-Foron spotted a dark, multi-faceted object in June 2007, moving slowly with oscillations. He took a phone photograph but acknowledged it did not faithfully capture what he had seen. Years later, comparison with a video recorded the same day in a separate case led to the official identification of the object as a tetrahedral weather balloon used by Météo-France or researchers. GEIPAN classified the case as A.
