🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On a sunny day in 2007, a witness in a garden in Chatillon-sur-Chalaronne spotted a large, multicoloured, diamond-shaped object flying silently at low altitude. Intrigued, they followed it by car for five or six kilometres, taking photographs along the way, and met four other witnesses watching the same phenomenon. The object's direction matched the southerly wind recorded in Lyon and its speed was slightly lower than the wind's.
After a detailed investigation, GEIPAN concluded it was probably a cluster of helium balloons, possibly escaped from an event or used to carry a light payload. The object's movement and appearance were consistent with the weather conditions and showed no anomalous features. The case was classified as B.
