🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On 25 January 2008 at 18:15, hundreds of people across south-west France watched a bright object cross the sky. GEIPAN investigated and ruled out an artificial space object, concluding it was probably a meteorite entering the atmosphere. Using over 170 witness accounts, investigators traced a trajectory and estimated an impact point east of Albi. Several witnesses handed in stones found after the event, but none could be identified as fragments of the presumed meteorite.
