White light tracing circles over Laqueuille near a military zone

Summary

On 24 January 2008, a witness in Laqueuille saw a high-altitude white light trace two circles in a clear sky before vanishing. A loud rumbling noise was heard throughout. Although the witness initially thought of an aircraft, the unusual movement drew attention. The proximity of a military flight-training area suggests it may have been a military plane performing manoeuvres. GEIPAN classified the case as B: probable military exercise.
