At 21:15 on 25 March 2008, a witness in Saint-Affrique (Aveyron) saw an orange fireball with a long tail descending from west to north over about eight seconds. The colour, downward trajectory and brief duration are consistent with an atmospheric entry such as a meteorite or space debris—a relatively common and well-understood astronomical phenomenon.
