On the evening of 25 April 2008, a couple in Sedan saw a powerful light resembling a searchlight appear suddenly above a hill before vanishing behind the ridge. Investigators considered two main hypotheses: a descending aircraft whose landing light, seen head-on from a distance, could have blinded the observers, and an Iridium satellite flare.
