🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
In the early hours between 6 and 7 May 2008, an observer in Theix reported a luminous object in the sky. The testimony reached GEIPAN a year later with very few details. Analysis showed that Jupiter was visible in the southeast at roughly 3° 48′ elevation, consistent with the reported position.
The perception of movement in a fixed light source can be misleading in the dark, a well-known effect called autokinetic illusion. Based on the available evidence, GEIPAN classified the case as B, pointing to confusion with the planet. The scarcity of data prevents a more precise assessment.
