🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On 29 August 2008, a witness in Athis-Mons saw a very bright white light to the northwest that initially resembled a star. It moved slowly, stopped, and vanished within about six seconds. There were no other witnesses. The account is contradictory, at times describing a stationary point that accelerates slightly, at others a slow drift northward. Moreover, the report reached GEIPAN nearly 18 months after the event, undermining the reliability of the details. Without enough information to rule out conventional explanations such as a star or a Thai lantern, the case was classified as C.
