On 30 July 2008, two people observed from a sixth-floor apartment in Paris a dark, lenticular-shaped mass near the Eiffel Tower. Initially stationary, it then moved toward Charles de Gaulle airport and vanished after a luminous flash. One witness recorded the scene twice, lending consistency to the account. Investigators considered it might have been an accidentally released balloon whose movement was consistent with the wind, though the final luminous flash did not fully fit that hypothesis.
