On 8 July 2008, two observers at the summit of Bergiès spotted a luminous object appearing and disappearing in the sky. Using a 9×50 telescope, they confirmed it was an oval, steel-grey body moving slowly; one described a pendular motion. The object headed south before vanishing. Both witnesses had extensive experience in daytime and nighttime observations, lending credibility to the account. A GEIPAN investigator visited the site a month later but found no conventional explanation. The case was classified as D1 — unexplored and somewhat unusual.
