Summary

On December 23, 2008, several witnesses in different parts of France saw a brief luminous phenomenon in the night sky. Four testimonies were collected, all describing a bright object lasting only seconds. It was estimated the object may have entered the atmosphere near northern Spain. A notable discrepancy was the direction of travel: one witness reported a north-south path while the other three indicated east-west—a common inconsistency in fireball observations given the event's brevity. Three testimonies placed the sighting around 22:00, while one said 21:00. After seven years, these differences could no longer be resolved. GEIPAN classified the case as B: probable fireball.
