Summary

On 15 February 2009, a couple in Villedieu-du-Clain (Vienne) watched an incandescent object cross the sky in a straight line, shifting from red to orange, before descending and disappearing behind vegetation. Moments earlier, one of the witnesses had heard a sharp, sudden noise from inside the house that stopped abruptly, prompting them to go outside.

The gendarmerie investigated and consulted air-tracking agencies but found no recorded incidents or meteorite falls. The relatively long duration of the sighting and the preceding noise, which does not fit standard explanations, complicate the analysis. The case retains a degree of strangeness, particularly because of that unidentified sound.
