On 5 February 2009, a motorist stopped in Brienne-le-Château (Aube) after noticing an intense, stationary light in the sky. He photographed the phenomenon, which remained visible for about twelve minutes and drew some local media attention. Investigators determined it was the planet Venus, exceptionally bright that evening. The testimony and photos were coherent and credible; the confusion stemmed not from faulty perception but from the observer's lack of astronomical knowledge. Classified A by GEIPAN, the case shows how missing context can turn a familiar celestial body into an apparent mystery.
