Luminous spheres at a ski resort in Aussois

Summary

On 28 February 2009, several witnesses at a ski resort in Aussois (Savoie) observed two spherical lights of different sizes moving across the mountainous terrain. The phenomenon was captured in numerous photographs and videos. Although the case took nearly two years to reach GEIPAN, the images made it possible to locate the lights over the ski slopes. Investigators considered that one light could be the headlamp of a piste groomer and the other an illuminated balloon, common during peak ski season.
