While watching fighter jets on 30 March 2009, a witness in Eschbach heard a deep metallic noise and spotted a shiny greyish sphere hanging in the air, larger than the jets. It briefly disappeared and reappeared before the startled witness went back inside. The report reached GEIPAN late, and the link between the sound and the object remained unclear.
