Summary

A very bright, motionless circle appeared above a witness's house in Savignac-les-Églises on the night of 15 March 2009. Within roughly four seconds it shrank and vanished without a sound. There were no other witnesses or local events that could explain the phenomenon. Saturn was very close to the reported direction and particularly bright, yet the witness described a disc rather than a point. A photograph of the site also revealed a tree between the observer and the sky, suggesting that a movement by the witness or a branch may have suddenly hidden the planet. These uncertainties led GEIPAN to classify the case as C.
