Summary

In May 1972, a couple in New Brunswick reported observing an unidentified flying object near Maple Ridge. The object appeared as a bright red cross-shaped light, silent and moving vertically in the sky. The couple observed it for approximately 20 minutes before it disappeared over the horizon. The following night, at a slightly different time, they reported an identical sighting. Local police investigated and concluded that the witnesses were credible and there was no indication of fraud. Although no conventional explanation was found, the report was sent to the National Research Council's Meteor Center for analysis.

The case was documented by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and included in a file of UFO reports. The description of the object and the conditions of the sighting matched both witnesses' accounts, adding credibility to their testimony. Despite investigations, no physical evidence of the phenomenon was found, and the report concluded that no further action would be taken unless new data emerged.
