🇬🇧 Ministry of Defence
In July 2007, the UK Ministry of Defence responded to several Freedom of Information requests regarding UFO sightings. A total of 21 reports were recorded, spread across locations such as London, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire, and the English Channel. The official response emphasized that the Ministry does not aim to identify the objects, as its priority is to assess whether they pose a national security threat. In May, a report on a sighting near Guernsey was published in the Ministry's transparency database, though with personal information redacted. Requesters also inquired about topics like time travel and crop circles, but the Ministry found no relevant documents and denied the existence of files on these subjects. The official response highlighted that most sightings lack administrative value and are destroyed after a retention period.
