Summary

In 1953, Danish authorities treated UFO sightings with seriousness. The military considered that while many reports were astronomical phenomena, trained observers reported objects seemingly dispatched from Soviet bases in the Arctic. These reports included testimonies from military personnel who saw unidentified objects moving at impossible speeds. Danish authorities shared these data with other Scandinavian countries, comparing observations with radar and uncrewed projectiles detected over Norway and Finland.

A notable case occurred in November 1952, when an officer and seven privates in Jutland observed an object moving faster than any known aircraft. Additionally, in October of that year, an aircraft of unknown design was seen over a naval base in Norway. These events, along with others, led defense forces to conclude that the objects could be linked to Soviet installations in Novaya Zemlya. Although not officially confirmed, the concern was real, and the reports were treated with rigor within the armed forces.
