Declassified CIA documents reveal insights into UFO sightings and the development of unconventional flying objects during the 1950s. One notable case is an article published in a French monthly journal, where an aeronautical officer proposed the possibility of supersonic interstellar ships powered by cosmic energy. This was interpreted by some as an implicit acknowledgment by the French Air Force of the existence of UFOs, sparking international media interest.
Another key point is the German wartime experiments described by engineer George Klein. According to an unidentified newspaper, Klein detailed the construction of flying disc prototypes between 1941 and 1945. One of these reached speeds of 1300 miles per hour within three minutes. However, after the Soviet occupation, most records were destroyed, and little is known of the final results. Additionally, an Italian inventor, Scipione Mattolin, obtained a patent for a flying disc capable of 3000 km/h, but it was rejected by Italian authorities. Mattolin planned to offer his design elsewhere, including the United States.
