UFO Light Observed by Aircrew

Summary

In September 1976, a British European Airways crew observed a mysterious light during a flight from Moscow to London. At around 10,000 meters over Lithuania, they saw a stationary, intensely bright yellowish light. The light was about 15 kilometers away, below a cloud layer, and illuminated the top of the clouds dramatically, resembling a sodium vapor lamp. The pilot, intrigued, contacted the aircraft's communication network and asked Soviet authorities to identify the source. The authorities responded negatively and advised him not to ask questions. The light remained visible for about 15 minutes until the aircraft passed it and left the source behind.
