In April 1981, two Soviet patrol officers in Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan, reported an unusual encounter with an unidentified flying object. While patrolling near a mountain, they observed a kind of fire at the summit. As they approached, red rays burst from the object, and according to their account, the vehicle suddenly stopped when hit by a beam of light. The UFO, apparently, dimmed its lights and vanished as the officers drew closer. Most intriguingly, upon returning to the station, they could not remember the way back. The incident was recorded and had impartial witnesses.
This case was reported by the TASS news agency and published in a local newspaper. Although the report does not mention an official resolution, the fact that it was published in state media suggests it was not a rumor or a joke. The description of the UFO and its effects on the vehicle and the officers' memory add a touch of mystery to the event. The document, marked as unclassified, is part of the CIA's files on unidentified aerial phenomena.
