In June 1969, the skies over Gijón witnessed an unusual aerial phenomenon. A trapezoidal, translucent object with a plastic-like appearance was spotted by a large number of people between 10:45 and 12:00. Its slow movement and east-west direction generated curiosity, although its size and altitude were difficult to determine. Notably, a correspondent from the Interplanetary Studies Center managed to observe it with binoculars, identifying it as a weather balloon similar to one seen in Madrid the previous year.
Despite public attention, no further investigations were conducted, and the case was deemed not to contain classified information. The document, declassified decades later, retains an air of mystery, though it points to a conventional explanation. The detailed description and multiple witness accounts give the case a touch of authenticity, making it an interesting chapter in the history of UFO sightings in Spain.
