🇪🇸 Ejército del Aire
On June 22, 1976, in the Canary Islands, an unidentified aerial phenomenon captured the attention of multiple witnesses. The first observation occurred at 21:27 when the crew of the corvette "Atrevida" saw a white light emerging from the interior of Fuerteventura and moving slowly toward the airport. The light rose, forming a blue circular halo and then split, with one part disappearing and another ascending in a spiral. Three minutes later, at 21:30, witnesses in Gran Canaria reported a spherical object 30 meters in diameter with red figures inside. A couple in Punta Galdar observed a light that grew to the size of the lunar disk, while a teacher in Agaete described a large transparent white circle with rays crossing it. The testimonies coincided in describing unusual lights, spherical forms, and phenomena that could not be explained by conventional means.
The official report, compiled by the Air Force Judge Investigator, collected testimonies from 13 individuals, categorized by reliability. Despite the investigations, no clear explanation was found, and there was no evidence of conventional air traffic during that period. Meteorological data and air traffic records showed no anomalies, and radar equipment did not detect anything. The report concluded that it was an unidentified aerial phenomenon, with no determined cause. This case remains one of the most intriguing UFO incidents in Spanish history.
