In May 1971, the Royal Australian Air Force recorded a UFO case in which an unidentified aerial object was observed by several witnesses, including military personnel. The report details how a flight officer and other observers reported a luminous object that changed color and remained stationary in the sky. Despite attempts to track it with radar, no correspondence with any known aircraft was found. The phenomenon was visible only from the ground, suggesting the possibility of light refraction. No convincing natural or physical explanations were found, and the case remains unresolved.
The report includes detailed descriptions from witnesses, meteorological data, and an evaluation of possible causes. Although a thermal inversion was considered as a possible explanation, it was not confirmed. The case highlights the difficulty of identifying unconventional aerial objects and the need for further investigation.
