Summary

Many reports of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) have been investigated by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) since 1984. Most cases were resolved by attributing them to known causes such as satellites, meteors, or aircraft lights. However, a small percentage remained unexplained, leading to a revision of investigation policies. Now, only reports with potential defense or national security implications are thoroughly investigated, while others are referred to civilian UFO research organizations. The process includes a detailed questionnaire to gather witness information, and if the case is not urgent, support is offered to civilian groups. Despite efforts, studies concluded that UFO reports did not contribute new scientific knowledge, and the likelihood of extraterrestrial life visiting Earth was considered extremely low.
